In an industry where the overseas box office is often dominated by Shah Rukh Khan films, Ajay Devgn has made a notable entry with his latest release, Singham Again, particularly in the North American market. The USA and Canada, key regions for Hindi cinema outside India, have shown robust support for Devgn’s action-packed film, solidifying its success abroad.
Released on Diwali, Singham Again has maintained a strong momentum in North America, where it has crossed the US $4 million mark (₹35 crore) within 12 days of its release. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Ajay Devgn, as it surpasses his previous record in the region set by Drishyam 2, which had a lifetime collection of nearly US $3 million. The overwhelming success of Singham Again not only emphasizes Devgn’s appeal but also showcases the growing demand for Bollywood action films on an international scale.
A Record-Breaking Performance in India and Worldwide
While Singham Again is setting new standards in North America, its performance in India has also been stellar. Within just 13 days, the movie has crossed the ₹200 crore mark domestically, with its total collection reaching ₹217.65 crore, according to Sacnilk. This impressive figure makes Singham Again the third biggest Hindi film of the year, surpassing Fighter starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, which held a lifetime collection of ₹212 crore. The film’s worldwide box office collection has now exceeded ₹300 crore, establishing it as one of the highest-grossing Bollywood movies of the year.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, Singham Again is the latest addition to his popular Cop Universe, which has redefined the action genre in Bollywood. In this film, Shetty introduced two new characters: Deepika Padukone as Shakti Shetty and Tiger Shroff as ACP Satya. Additionally, the movie brought back fan favorites Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi and Ranveer Singh as Simmba, adding to the star-studded appeal that has contributed to its strong box office performance. Shetty recently revealed in an interview that he is working on a standalone film featuring Deepika Padukone’s character, further expanding his Cop Universe.
With Singham Again’s exceptional performance in North America and its record-breaking success in India, the film has not only become Ajay Devgn’s biggest overseas hit but has also set a high standard for future Bollywood releases on the international stage. This triumph underscores Bollywood’s expanding influence worldwide and Ajay Devgn’s continuing appeal as a box office powerhouse.
