As the Iran–Israel war enters its eighth day, the conflict has escalated significantly. Iranian drone strikes have targeted major Israeli cities including Haifa, Beersheba, and Tel Aviv, while Israeli airstrikes have devastated several Iranian cities such as Tehran, Arak, and Natanz, focusing on military and nuclear-related facilities. In a particularly grave turn, Iranian missiles have hit Israeli hospitals, and Israeli strikes have reportedly killed hundreds in Iran.
Amid this intensifying warfare, the United States has announced a two-week window to pursue diplomatic efforts before deciding on potential military involvement. Meanwhile, European foreign ministers have met with Iran’s Foreign Minister in Geneva, urging for a ceasefire. However, Iran continues to maintain a firm stance and has not yet agreed to halt its operations.
The humanitarian situation is rapidly deteriorating, especially in Gaza and southern Israel, where hospitals are overwhelmed. Reports indicate around 240 injuries in Israel and approximately 639 casualties in Iran.
In response to the crisis, India launched Operation Sindhu on June 18, successfully evacuating 110 Indian nationals from Iran via Armenia. Further evacuations are expected in the coming days as the situation unfolds.
