NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricketer, who is also Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh has once again lashed out at MS Dhoni and claimed that he has hurt his son’s cricketing pursuits. Yograj’s comments reflect a long-festering sore that he feels robbed Yuvraj of opportunities in the game, especially based on a much-cherished come-back performance by the southpaw during the 2007 T20 World Cup as well as in the ODI World Cup of 2011 held under the captaincy of Dhoni.

Yuvraj Singh successfully sailed through a seventeen-year-old career in which he registered crucial performances including those which helped India win the 2007 T20 World Cup and the ODI World Cup in 2011. But after 2014, the string of international matches dried up for him, and the last international match he had was against the West Indies in 2017. Even this match was unheard of – this was the time Yogi Singh called out the name of Dhoni and refused to allow anyone else to play for their country. This match was played five years after the last one, thanks to the team's stubborn determination to drop him.

Returning to the regular Zee Switch YouTube channel interviews, Yograj Singh has shared his feelings for Dhoni very vividly and in these words: “I will not forgive MS Dhoni. He should look at his face in the mirror – ‘I say’ I will not forgive you. He is a very big cricketer, but whatever he has done for my son, everything is coming out now, whatever happens, why will you not forgive him, it will never be forgiven in your life” There are two things that I have never done in life, the first being that I have never forgiven any person who has wronged me and the second being, I have never embraced them in my life, be it family or children. That man (MS Dhoni) has destroyed my son’s career who has the potential to have played four to five years more."

Yuvraj Singh is counted amongst the greatest Cricketers in Indian history and has gathered almost 12000 runs scoring 17 centuries in 402 matches from all formats. He received much applause for his overall contribution during the 2011 World Cup. Yuvraj amassed 362 runs, averaging 90.50, and picked 15 wickets which made him the Man of the Tournament.

Yograj Singh marveled at his son’s indomitable spirit, especially against cancer, which Yuvraj battled while representing India during the 2011 World Cup. He was also adamant that since Yuvraj played for India, he too must be given the highest civilian award in India called Bharat Ratna.

“I challenge each one of you to produce a Yuvraj Singh. Even Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag have said ever before that there will not be and could not be another Yuvraj Singh.”

"India must issue thee the Bharat Ratna on playing with cancer and fetching the World Cup for the country", added Yograj.

Yograj Singh's comments have brought back the topic of debates concerning Yuvraj Singh's career progressions and the politics of the Indian cricket team during the information part of Yuvraj's sports career.
