Following the monumental success of Kalki 2898 AD, all eyes are now on Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, a sequel poised to take Telugu cinema to new heights. With its grand release scheduled for December 5, 2024, the film has already generated immense buzz globally, particularly in North America, the largest market for Indian films outside India.

As per the latest trade reports, Pushpa 2 has amassed an impressive $1.75 million (approximately ₹14.78 crore) in pre-sales for its premiere shows in North America. Of this, the United States has contributed $1.65 million, with the remaining collections coming from Canada. These figures firmly place Pushpa 2 as the second-biggest premiere for an Indian film in North America this year, trailing only Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD, which opened to $3.9 million.

The film has been granted a UA certificate by India’s censor board and is anticipated to witness a significant surge in ticket sales in the coming days, as excitement builds among fans. Industry analysts predict that Pushpa 2 has the potential to surpass several premiere day records, given its robust advance bookings.

Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule serves as the highly awaited sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise, which earned Allu Arjun the National Award for Best Actor. The film continues the journey of Pushpa Raj and promises to deliver high-octane drama and action. Alongside Arjun, the cast boasts a stellar lineup, including Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, and Prakash Raj.

The sequel has already set benchmarks even before its release. It secured a groundbreaking ₹200 crore deal for its Hindi distribution rights in North India, brokered by Anil Thadani. This highlights the film’s universal appeal and growing influence of Telugu cinema across regional and international markets.

While the highest-ever premiere day record for an Indian film in North America remains with SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion at $4.3 million, Pushpa 2 is well on its way to securing its place among the top performers.

With just days left for its release, the momentum surrounding Pushpa 2 reflects not only Allu Arjun’s massive fan following but also the rising global stature of Indian cinema. All eyes are now on its premiere day collections, which are expected to redefine success in the overseas market.
