Shah Rukh Khan Death Threats Investigation Update

The ongoing investigation into death threats against Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan has led the Mumbai Police to summon a lawyer from Chhattisgarh, whose alleged “lost phone” was reportedly used to send a threatening call demanding Rs 50 lakh from the superstar. This development has also uncovered the lawyer’s past objections to Khan’s 1994 film Anjaam, specifically a dialogue referencing deer hunting, which the lawyer, a friend of Rajasthan’s Bishnoi community, found offensive.

The case took shape when a call threatening Shah Rukh Khan’s life and demanding a ransom was received at Mumbai's Bandra Police Station. According to a senior police official, “An offence has been registered. No arrest has been made yet.” The Bandra police swiftly registered the case under sections related to extortion involving death threats and criminal intimidation in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), initiating a comprehensive probe into the matter.

The lawyer, whose phone number was traced in connection with the threatening call, revealed his past grievances against Khan. In a statement to the media, he explained, “I hail from Rajasthan, and the Bishnoi community is my friend. They protect deer as part of their religious beliefs. So, when a Muslim actor spoke a certain dialogue about deer in Anjaam, I objected.” He also expressed frustration over the current allegations, asserting that the call made from his phone seemed “intentional” and suggested a possible conspiracy against him.

The Mumbai police confirmed that preliminary investigations traced the threat call to a number registered under the lawyer's name. However, when brought in for questioning, he claimed his phone had been stolen the previous week, a matter he reported at Khamardih Police Station. Authorities are now examining the phone’s recent activity to verify the lawyer’s claims and uncover any additional links.

This investigation has not only stirred public interest but has also triggered security measures for Shah Rukh Khan. The actor’s team has reportedly reinforced his personal security, advising him to refrain from public appearances on his birthday to ensure his safety amid heightened concerns.
